Support & Services

FSCS aims to offer a comprehensive service to Local Authorities (LAs) as permitted by legislation, to provide advice, support, guidance and assistance to vulnerable Young People. We understand that each individual has different requirements, and some may require more assistance than others. Therefore, Young People will be assessed individually, and a Personal Support plan will be developed. The plan will identify each Young Person’s needs and ensure that appropriate support is available in the following:

  • Life Skills – We will help each individual develop their skills to perform everyday tasks such as paying bills, cleaning, cooking, and shopping.
  • Education & Employment – We will have a list of all colleges within our locality. Should any of our Young People want to pursue additional education, employment, training and apprenticeships we will liaise with other organisations to take the next appropriate step.
  • Doctors’ Surgery, Hospital, Antenatal appointments, Dentists & Opticians – From our list of local Medical Services we will assist them in registering in the aforementioned services and in the cases of Young People that need to be escorted, we will accompany them to each appointment.
  • Solicitors – Where needed to handle their Asylum claims or other issues, we will assist in finding appropriate legal representatives and help them to understand British Laws, processes and procedures, if they are not familiar with the Country’s basic legalities. We will also escort them to the Home office.
  • Social, Cultural and Recreational Activities – Help Young People to build relationships and feel a sense of community within their surroundings. Inform them of local cinemas, cafes/restaurants, and social clubs to promote independent living. Also assist Young People to access Libraries, Homework Clubs and Language Clubs etc.
  • Accommodation & Allowances – Young People will be accommodated in semi-independent living in a shared house, they will receive a weekly allowance agreed with the referring LA as part of the package and any extra payments as agreed with Social Services. We will work with Social Services by providing information for the completion of Pathway Plans as and when required for all Young People in our care.
  • Additional support to the Local Authority
    - Single Child and Family Assessment
    - LAC review report

  • LIFE SKILLS PROGRAMME

Upon successful completion of the referral and assessment stage, a support plan will be drawn up at a developmental meeting. This meeting may involve the Young Person, Support Worker, Social Worker, Connexions Advisor, and parent or other family members, if applicable.

The Life Skills programme focuses on assessing the social and independence skills required to meet the statutory Care and Pathway Plans. Elements of the Life Skills assessments include budgeting and finance, food hygiene and preparation, personal hygiene, social and sexual health awareness, etc.

This assessment will help FSCS to develop an action plan, which addresses each Young Person strengths and weaknesses.
